Many families and individuals in our community need help every day due to a variety of factors including low wages, job loss, injuries, illness, age or marital breakdown. While all of us are susceptible to hard times, children and the elderly are at the most risk, and they make up the largest number of clients Pelham Cares serves.
Including the maintenance of a food bank, Pelham Cares provides the following services:
●Sponsorship of youth with limited financial resources to enable their participation in sporting, recreation and educational opportunities.
●Provides transportation to medical and related appointments, for residents of Pelham, mainly to senior citizens, who are without transportation.
●Responds to families of fire or other catastrophic loss by providing emergency food, supplies or short term accommodation
●Makes referrals to other organizations/agencies which do not have a visible point of contact in Pelham.
●Provides Holiday food hampers, for seasonal special occasions and to supplement regular food hampers.
●Provides personal goods and household items, as available, as part of our monthly food hampers.
●Provides back packs filled with school supplies and school snacks to children of our registered client families, at 'back-to-school' time.
